Every movie I have watched in the last two weeks has either been a ridiculous slasher or started with a Tom Waits song. What does that mean?

There is a Tom Waits song in the movie Robots. Although, it doesn't open the movie. Also, Art Deco of any kind makes me feel awful inside. Like the world is ending and I'm having a panic attack.
